Hello, this is Kaitlin!

This time I’ve made a snood with a unique texture

that resembles a brioche rib, all worked with a crochet hook.

The fabric is soft and fluffy with a nice thickness,

and the faux fur stripes add a charming accent.

Since it’s made with crochet,

it’s easy enough for beginners to try.

And because the faux fur is added afterward,

you don’t have to worry about dropping stitches —

making it a stress-free project to enjoy!

Materials

・4 skeins Exceed Wool L (medium weight) col.327 (80m/40g)　　　　　　　　　　　　　or other worsted yarn

・ 1 skein Angel Fur col.19 (42m/40g)

or other faux-fur yarn

Sample shown in the video was made with:

4 skeins Exceed Wool L (medium weight) col.301

1 skein Angel Fur col.2

・ Crochet hook: 3.50mm

・ Tapestry needle

・ Stitch markers

・ Scissors

・ Measuring tape

・ Steam iron

Gauge:

Pattern stitch:

17 sts × 14 rows = 10 cm × 10 cm

Note: The measurements shown

in the video are taken mid-project,

so the stitch and row counts

may not exactly match the gauge due to stretching

in width or length.

Please use them only as a reference while knitting.

Size:

Laid flat:

Width: approx. 41 cm

Height: approx. 23 cm

Base

Using Exceed Wool, work the base as follows:

Chain 144 loosely to measure approx. 83–86 cm (about 10 sts = 6 cm).

Being careful not to twist, join with a slip stitch to the back bump of the first chain to form a ring.

(Tip: After joining, double-check to ensure there are no twists.)

Rnd 1　　　

ch 2 as turning chain, 143 hdc,

1 sl st to join (pull the yarn to tighten the join.)　　 (144 sts total)

Work the hdc into the back bump of the foundation chains.

For the sl st, insert the hook into the 2nd chain of the beginning ch-2, picking up the outside loop and the back bump.

Rnd 2　　　

ch 2 as turning chain, *143 hdc,

1 sl st to join (pull the yarn to tighten the join.)　　 (144 sts total)

*Work the 143 hdc into the third loop, located behind the top two loops of the hdc from the prev rnd.(Video 06:17)

Rnd 3　　　

ch 1 as turning chain(pull yarn tight), 1 sc, *143 sc, 

1 sl st to join (pull yarn tight.)　　(144 sts total)

*Work the 143 sc into the third loop, located behind the top two loops of the hdc from the prev rnd. (Video 08:25)

Rnd 4　　　

ch 2 as turning chain, 143 hdc BLO,

1 sl st to join (pull the yarn to tighten the join.)　　 (144 sts total)

Work 143 hdc BLO, picking up the back loop of the single crochets from the previous round. (Video 09:40)

Rnd 5　　　

ch 2 as turning chain, *143 hdc,

1 sl st to join (pull the yarn to tighten the join.)　　(144 sts total)

*Work the 143 hdc into the third loop, located behind the top two loops of the hdc from the prev rnd. (Video 10:45)

Rnds 6–33　　　

Repeat Rounds 2–5.

Rnd 34　　　

ch 1, *143 sl st

*Work the sl st into the third loop, located behind the top two loops of the hdc from the previous round.

Make the slip stitches loosely so they match the size of the previous round’s hdc.

Changing Yarn

When the yarn runs low, stop with an unfinished hdc (or sc).

Bring the old yarn tail over the hook from front to back,

leave about 15 cm of the new yarn tail on the back side of the work,

then yarn over with the new yarn and pull through all 4 loops (3 loops for sc) on the hook to complete the stitch.

Leave both yarn tails resting until weaving in,

or tie them loosely to secure temporarily (untie later when weaving in).

Finishing

After the last slip stitch,

cut the yarn leaving a 10 cm tail and pull it through the final loop.

※Take care not to tighten the last stitch.

Thread the yarn tail onto a tapestry needle

and join to the first chain with a chain join.

Insert the needle under both loops of the first chain (Video 13:55),

then bring the needle back through the point

where the final stitch yarn emerges,

and draw it to the WS of the fabric.

On the WS, weave the tail through several stitches invisibly,

then back one stitch, and weave again to secure.

Working Slip Stitches on the Foundation Edge

Work slip stitches along the starting edge as follows:

Insert the hook into the back bump of the last foundation chain and join the yarn. (Video 15:24)

Slip stitch into the back bump of the next chain.

Repeat across,

working slip stitches into the back bumps of the foundation chain.

This causes the foundation chain to fold toward the front, giving the fabric a neat finish.

When you reach the last stitch,

cut the yarn leaving a 10 cm tail,

and join with a chain join as before. (Video 17:00)

Weave in the yarn tail on the wrong side of the work as previously described.

Finish weaving in any other yarn tails on the WS,

keeping them invisible from the RS.

Steam Blocking

Hold a steam iron above the fabric and apply plenty of steam to smooth and shape the piece.

Adding the Faux Fur

Work slip stitches into the front loops remaining at the top of the single crochets.

Insert the hook into the front loop of the first single crochet of Round 3 and join the yarn. (Video 18:37)

Insert the hook into the next stitch and work a slip stitch.

Continue in this way around.

Take care to adjust the yarn tension so the fabric does not pucker.

Work slip stitches loosely all the way around.

When you have completed the last slip stitch,

chain 1.Cut the yarn, leaving a 10 cm tail,

and pull it through the final chain.

Thread the yarn tail onto a tapestry needle.

Cross the tails so that the starting tail goes toward the ending side

and the ending tail goes toward the starting side.

Bring both to the WS of the work and weave them in securely. (Video 19:47)

Repeat this process to add the faux fur edging to the remaining 7 rounds of single crochet.

For finishing,

use a tapestry needle or similar tool to gently pull out any faux fur strands

that have been caught in the stitches,

fluffing and arranging them neatly. (Video 20:28)
